Refund Policy
Background
1. The Lexington F.C. official policy on refunds, consistent with LYSA
policy, has been that there are no refunds.
2. There has been some flexibility in this policy based on individual circumstances,
particularly in cases where players sustain serious injury prior to the
start of a season. However, it has become apparent that this standard has
been inconsistently applied.
3. Given the significant difference in parent investment in select soccer
in comparison with recreational soccer ($330 in comparison with $60), and
given that for certain teams it is necessary to collect fees several months
before the start of a season, it is appropriate for LFC to review its policy
and develop an alternative that is more clearly defined, uniformly applied,
and consistent with both equity and good public relations.
Policy
1. There shall be no refunds for players after the first game (including
scrimmage games) of a season.
2. Players sustaining injuries or experiencing illness of sufficient severity
to preclude them from playing for a season (as documented by a physician)
who request a rebate prior to the first game (including scrimmage games)
of a season shall receive a full rebate of their fees minus the cost of
their uniform (currently $70) and a $50 processing fee. This $50 fee represents
KYSA fees paid by the club for the player and costs involved in securing
a replacement player for the team. Such rebates shall be approved by the
Director of LFC.
3. Refunds shall not be provided to players who elect not to play for a
team for reasons other than serious injury or illness.
4. Under truly exceptional circumstances not covered by these guidelines,
an appeal for a refund may be made in writing directly to the Director
of LFC. The Director of LFC shall consult with the Director of Coaching
and other persons he or she deems pertinent to the specific circumstances
of the case, and determine the appropriateness of a full or partial refund.
5. Under no circumstances shall refunds be authorized by any person other
than the Director of LFC.
6. Appeals with regard to the exercise of this policy must be made to the
LFC Executive Committee in writing within seven days of the Director's
decision.
