Lexington FC Designated as a Nike Premier Club
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky’s most successful youth soccer club – Lexington FC, commonly referred to as LFC – will be branded a “Nike Premier Club” beginning with the Fall 2015 season, the Club announced Thursday. LFC is the first club in the Bluegrass State designated as a Nike Premier Club.
With the agreement, LFC taps into Nike’s global resources in the sport of soccer, which includes elite camps, premier tournaments, dedicated coaching support and education, along with top-quality service, apparel and equipment. The Club will be exclusive with Nike, and all age groups, from the U9 Academy through the U18 boys’ and girls’ teams, will wear only the Nike product.
“Developing this partnership with Nike was the next step as our club evolves into one of the top programs in the region,” said Parviz Zartoshty, the LFC Director of Coaching. “For us to be a Nike Premier Club is a unique distinction, and it is the result of the continued dedication of our coaches, players and families who have worked hard to make us a competitive club that focuses on teaching the game, teaching sportsmanship and producing top-quality young people.”
Lexington FC, which is the competitive club of the Lexington Youth Soccer Association, boasts more than 750 participants, 45 teams, and in 2014, captured a tournament-record 10 State Cup Championships. Participants travel from all over Kentucky to play for this Central Kentucky-based organization, which utilizes Masterson Station in Lexington as its home facility.
While specific terms of the six-year agreement were not released, the financial considerations will allow LFC to enhance current programs.
“One of our Club’s biggest objectives is to make soccer affordable to our community,” Zartoshty added. “A big focus has been to increase our scholarship offerings so that we can tap into the underserved areas of Central Kentucky and get those young people out playing competitive soccer. Thanks to Nike, we hope to really grow that program.”
While locals are familiar with Nike’s collegiate sponsorship of the 22 varsity sports at the University of Kentucky, Nike Soccer’s global reach includes national team sponsorships of the U.S., Brazil, England, France and Portugal, as well as the world’s most popular professional franchise, Barcelona.
“The ‘Nike Premier Club’ designation is available to only a select number of clubs across the U.S.,” said Brian Dahnke of Nike Soccer. “Nike’s mission is to bring inspiration and innovation to every athlete in the world. Our dedication to the competitive spirit pushes us to provide athletes with the necessary tools to help them make their mark on each and every game. Our commitment to excellence drives us to develop products and create experiences that enable players to compete at the highest level.
“We are thrilled to develop this association with such a club as LFC which owns a rich history in soccer and is widely recognized as the leading club in Kentucky.”
Lexington FC’s colors are navy, red and white, and more recently, the club has emphasized just red and white in its uniform colors. With the move to Nike, LFC will unveil new navy and white uniforms later this spring which will be worn for the next two years.
