Lexington FC Coaching Staff
Lexington FC firmly believes in the importance of continuing education for the benefit of our players and the advancement of the club. While other clubs may look to have parent coaches or utilize a trainer style approach, LFC’s philosophy is to provide each team with the most qualified head coach available and groom young or inexperienced coaches by adding them as assistant coaches.
Our commitment to the players and teams is to provide the most well-rounded and best-qualified coach for every team. We believe that the right mix of playing experience, coaching experience; licensing and personality are keys to successful coaches. We believe licensing is important because it enables a coach to be on the leading edge of areas such as: fundamental coaching concepts, coaching philosophy, age appropriate training, treatment and prevention of injuries and team management concerns.
LFC Director of Coaching
A native of Tehran, Iran, Parviz Zartoshty graduated with honors from Transylvania in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in computer science and business administration. He made the Dean's List every semester and played soccer for four years. He was twice named MVP and was selected Pioneer Athlete of the Year following his senior year.
Zartoshty holds a USSF National C License and has served as head coach of numerous select teams in the Lexington area over the last decade. He has guided many successful teams, winning state and regional championships on several occasions. Over the past 10 years, Parviz has also been a Kentucky Olympic Development State Coach and served as the Director of Coaching for the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association.
In addition to serving as the Director of Coaching for LFC, Zartoshty has served as the head coach for both the Transylvania University Men's and Women's soccer programs for many years before becoming the Director of Soccer in 2003. Zartoshty began the Transy women's soccer program in 1995 and by 1999; he had guided the Pioneers into the NAIA National Championship game. He then took over the men's program in 2000 and immediately added the same successful mentality. They have averaged over 13 wins per season since his arrival and they have been nationally ranked on numerous occasions.
He was named the Region XI women's Coach of the Year in 1997, 1998 and 1999.

Lexington
F.C believes that a head coach should be responsible for only one
team. The time commitment and effort needed to coach a club team
is too demanding for a coach to be committed to multiple teams.
Lexington F.C Boys coaches:
Boys Trainer: Brandon Bowman
Because of his extensive experience and knowledge coach Bowman will
be working with all of our boy’s teams and coaches.
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(2), club (12), ODP (2) and college (10). He is the current head
coach of Transylvania men’s soccer. He has been the Head coach
at Transylvania University for 10 years. He holds the USSF National
A License and NSCAA Premier Diploma.
Playing Experience: youth, competitive, high school and college
(Centre College).
Accomplishments: 7 appearances in NCAA division III, NCAA elite
eight, NCAA sweet sixteen, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 KY State Champion
and 2007, 2010 KY state finalist.
U-18 Boys Premier – Jason Behler
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(8) and club (5). He is the current Boys assistant coach at Henry
Clay high school. He holds the USSF National D License and is enrolled
to receive his USSF National C License.

Accomplishments: 2010 KHSAA State Champions
U-18 Boys Classic - Cary Tsamas
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(5), club (7) and college (5). He is the current Head women’s
soccer coach at Berea College. He holds the USSF National D License
and a NSCAA National Diploma.
Playing experience: youth, high school, college and a professional
D2 team in Greece.
U-17 Boys Premier – Matthew Vogel
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes club (7),
ODP, and college. He holds the USSF National D License, Certified
Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Playing Experience: youth, competitive, high school, college (Transylvania
University and University of Kentucky).
Accomplishments: Conference MVP, All-Region (3), Team MVP (3), All-Conference
1st team (3), Male Athlete of the Year, and 2-Time All-American.
Disney Showcase semi-finalist, KY State Finalist, Germantown Invitational
Semi-Finalist, BIT Champion (5).
U-17 Boys Classic – Kyle Newman
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes 3 years of
club. He holds the USSF E license and is enrolled to receive his
USSF National D License.
Playing experience: youth, competitive, high school and college.
Accomplishments: Red Lion Invitational Tournament Champions.
U-16 Boys Premier – Thomas Morgan
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes club (8),
and he was the JV Coach at Bowling Green HS. He is currently the
Head Boy’s soccer coach at East Jessamine HS (2). He holds
the USSF National D License and is enrolled to receive his USSF
National C License.
Playing Experience: youth, competitive, high school, college (Western
Kentucky University), state and regional ODP teams.
Accomplishments: 2009 Eurosport Cup Finalist, 2010 State Cup Champion
(U13), 2010 Regional Tournament Runner-Up.
U-16 Boys Classic – Benjamin Blevins
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes club (2) and
he was an assistant coach for Tates Creek High School Varsity and
JV and East Jessamine High School Varsity and JV. He holds the USSF
National D License.
Playing Experience: youth, competitive, high school, and college
(Transylvania University).
U-15 Boys Premier – Albert Gross
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes club (8),
ODP (4) and college (4). He is currently the assistant coach for
Transylvania men’s and Women’s soccer. He holds the
USSF National C License.
Playing Experience: youth, competitive, high school, college, pro
indoor (Louisville Lightening) and USL (Cincinnati Kings).
Accomplishments: 2009 KY State Champion, 2010 KY State finalist.
Three year captain for Transylvania soccer team, ALL-NSCAA Great
Lakes Region and ALL-Heartland Conference team for 3 years.

Dustin Downey:
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(3), ODP (1) and club (4). He currently holds his USSF E License
and is enrolled to receive his USSF National D License.
Playing experience: youth, competitive soccer, ODP and the member
of Region II teams (travelled to Spain, Italy and Costa Rica), attended
youth national team camp, member of Javanon S.C who won 2 USYSA
Region II tournaments and won the U-9 National Championship in 2006,
Two time participant of Adidas ESP soccer camp, College (Western
Kentucky), PDL (Cincinnati Kings), River City Rovers.
Accomplishments: 2008, 2009 KHSA finalist.
U-13 Boys Classic – Trey Kramer
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
and club soccer, and camps. He holds the USSF E License.
Playing experience: youth, competitive, ODP, men's varsity soccer
(4) Transylvania University, Costa Rica first division professional
soccer, Louisville Lightning professional soccer.
Accomplishments: High school regional finals, champions of Nike
Elite Cup.
U-12 Boys Premier – Dexter Sandy
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school,
club (8), college (Mobil Alabama), ODP (WV & Alabama) and semi
pro team Bluegrass Bandits. He holds the USSF National D License
and is enrolled to receive his USSF National C License.
Playing Experience: youth, high school and college (Alderson Broaddus
College). He has played for the national team of Trinidad &
Tobago, Finn Harps FC (Ireland Club) and Bluegrass Bandits.
U-12 Boys Classic – Zack Rother
Coaching experience: His coaching experience includes club for 4
years. He holds the USSF National D License.

U-11 Boys Premier White – Kenny Nusbacher
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(7), club (20) and ODP (12). He holds the USSF National D License.
Playing experience: youth, competitive, college and USISL semi-professional
(Bluegrass bandits and Birmingham Grasshoppers)
Accomplishments: He has coached 10 state champion teams, 2 region
II semifinalist teams and 2 region II runner-up teams
U-11 Boys Premier Red – Mike Donnelly
Coaching experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(1) and club (12). He holds the USSF National D License and is enrolled
to receive his USSF National C License.
Playing experience: youth, competitive, high school and college.
Accomplishments: He has coaches two state champion teams and 1 regional
semifinalist.
U-11 Boys Classic White– Sherwin Farhoudi
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes two years
in club. He holds the USSF E license and is enrolled to receive
his USSF National D License.
Playing Experience: youth, competitive, high school (4).
Accomplishments: MRL Premier Division.
U-11 Boys Classic Red – Jeff Averitt
Coaching experience: His coaching experience includes club (7) and
college for 4 years. He holds a USSF D license. Playing experience:
youth, competitive, high school and college.
U-10 Boys Premier White – Graham Rowles
Coaching experience: His coaching experience includes over 20 years
of club soccer in state such as Massachusetts, West Virginia and
Kentucky. He holds a USSF National D License and a USSF National
Youth License.
Playing experience: youth, competitive, high school, and Bristol
University of England, London.
Accomplishments: During the past 5 years his teams have won the
KSSL League on three occasions and have won numerous tournaments
including the Xenia (Ohio) Tornado Memorial Cup (2007); Whitehouse
Spring Classic (2007); Tennessee United Adidas Cup of Champions
(2008); Cincinnati United Arsenal Challenge Cup (2008); Music City
Invitational (2009), Forest Park Star Invitational (2009); Bluegrass
Invitational Tournament (2010), Cincinnati West Soccerfest (2010).
In addition they won the Eurosport State Cup in 2007.
U-10 Boys Premier Red – Brandon Turek
Coaching experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(4), ODP (3) and club (10). He is currently the head coach of Tates
Creek boy’s team. He holds a USSF National C License.
Playing experience: youth, competitive, high school, ODP and college

Accomplishments: 2008, 2009 KYSA state semi finalist and 2009 26th
District High School Championship
Academy Program
Lexington FC has developed an academy program to provide youth players
an environment to learn the necessary skills to develop as a soccer
player. Not only do we believe that our coaches should have strong
soccer knowledge, but also have the ability to work with youth players.
Our Academy Director, Kris Zander, mentors our academy coaching
staff with the ideas and knowledge gained from his USSF National
Youth License, and years of experience working with youth players.
U-9 Boys Academy – Kris Zander
Coaching experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(3) and club (12). He holds a USSF National A license, USSF national
youth license and is KYSA Executive Director. Kris Zander’s
experience combined with his knowledge of youth training makes him
the ideal Academy Director for Lexington FC.
Boys Academy Staff: Brendan Shevlin, Kyle Aurand, Michael
McKinney, Josh Owens
Lexington F.C Girls coaches:
Girls Trainer: Mike Fulton
Because of his extensive experience and knowledge coach Fulton will
be working with all of our Girls teams and coaches.
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(2), club (12), ODP (4) and college (8). He is the current head
coach of Transylvania women’s soccer. He has been the Head
coach at Transylvania University for 9 years. He holds the USSF
National A License and he is the Region II goal keeper coach.
Playing Experience: youth, competitive, high school and College.
Accomplishments: 3 appearances in NCAA division III, KYSA Finalist
for 3 years.
U-18 Girls Premier – Mebit Aragaw
Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(9) and club (2). He is the current Head girls coach at Henry Clay
high school. He holds the USSF E License.
Playing experience: He has played for Sue Bennett College, played
for semi-pro team in Ethiopia for two years and currently plays
for ESFNA team in New York
U-17 Girls Premier – Trip Rogers
Coaching experience: His coaching experience includes Club, high
school, college (Midway College and Georgetown College (3).
He has been on the ODP Goalkeeping Staff (5), is an NSCAA member,
and was the Assistant Director of Club Goalkeeper (3). He holds
the NSCAA National Coaching Diploma and NSCAA Level III Goalkeeper
Diploma.
U-17 Girls Classic –

Accomplishments: Champions of White House Soccer Classic (U15),
coached a 3v3 team who placed 4th in the National Championships.

Coaching Experience: His coaching experience includes high school
(5) club (10), and ODP (4). He holds a USSF National C License,
National Youth License and NSCAA Goalkeeper level II Diploma. He
is also a member of KY Youth Soccer Education Staff.

Academy Program
Lexington FC has developed an academy program to provide youth players

Jonathan Stile’s experience combined with his knowledge of
youth training makes him the ideal Lexington F.C girl’s academy
director.

Background Check
All LFC coaches
and assistant coaches are required to complete a background check
before EACH season. No coach will be allowed to have any contact
with their team until this process has been completed.
Deadlines are as follows: July 15
for fall teams and older teams planning on fall/winter tournaments
January 15 for all spring teams
*Newly appointed coaches (falling outside of deadlines) should complete
the form as soon as possible after hiring.

2. Fill out the form When completing the on-line background check
form, you must make an entry in every field. Enter
N/A if nothing applies. When you get to the end of the form,
check the box and click submit. A new screen should then come
up with the data you entered. Check for accuracy and go back
to correct if needed. Otherwise, check any other boxes and
click submit. You should then get a LYSA screen with a thank
you message. If you do not make an entry in every
